Our history
A family affair
How do you restore former farmland to its former glory?
This is the challenge set by Jean Rizzuto and his family over 30 years ago… and what motivates them to develop new agri-food models even today!
1983
When it opened in June 1983, the Marché was right in the middle of farmers’ fields. At the time, Highway 440 was just a side road.

More than 3 decades have passed. Many of the shopkeepers and market gardeners who have been there since the opening are still there today: Coiffure 440 Elle & lui, Déli du Marché, Fromagerie des Nations, Multivisions, Pasta Bella, Pizza Mia, Poissonnerie du Marché, SAQ, saucissier William J. Walter, Caro-Line Fruits & Légumes, Rita Hébert and Georges Denault. It’s an honour and a pleasure to share our story together!
True to its traditions, Le Marché has stood the test of time thanks to its very special way of doing things: forging authentic links with its customers, offering personalized service and fresh, high-quality produce. For, beyond fashions, these are the qualities that will always remain true.
Today
Today’s consumers are increasingly concerned about their health, and want to know where their food comes from. With its local products, Marché 440 advocates healthy eating while promoting local businesses.
Market traders are passionate about their work! They know their products and are happy to tell you about them, and many of them have been in the business for generations. With their wealth of experience, they know how to renew themselves to meet the needs of an increasingly discerning clientele interested in food and cooking.
Discover with your family a festive and gourmet place where passion for good food is paramount.
